out for the weekend

Post by: Chris on August 8th, 2008 | File Under Gaming, Scouts

Well we are just about out of here for the weekend. It is the monthly Scout Camping trip and I am going with them this time. Why you ask ! They are going into the Unita’s and Fishing! I love Fishing! Last year when we went, I and one other leader, were the only ones that caught a fish. So I have to catch another one for sure this year!
The strange part is that there are around 10 Boys going, 7 Male Leaders, and me. I still have worries that some of the Male leaders dont like me. Mosly cuz I am female and after all, this is “Boy Scouts”. But I have talked to some and they have actually said that they forget I am a female; they treat me like one of the guys. This time however, we have 4 new Male Leaders, so I hope they can accept me as well. I mean really, it’s not like I camp w/them all the time. I just go on the fun trips!
We are bringing our small red backpacking tent instead of our large one. I was going to drive, but now we are car pooling w/another leader. Camping is one of those time where I sure could use Lasik; pluggin’ those contacts in your eye in the cool mountain mornings is no fun. ugh.
But if I catch a fish, eat good food and hike around. it will be all worth it. I will be back bloggin’ on Monday. Have a great weekend ya’all !

pokemon

Post by: Chris on March 6th, 2008 | File Under Gaming

My son just loves Pokemon. and I must admit, they are pretty cool. It would be nice to have a little animal/monster-type companion to fight your battles :) There is a new game coming out too. Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Time/Explorers of Darkness. However, I think he is outgrowing those games. Last time he bought one, he finished the entire game in like 3 days. The kid is just to smart! We tried out some of the Brain Academy games, but those are even too easy for him and he is not really interested in them.
The reason I am pondering this, is that his BDay is coming up soon and he has not had a new game in a while. Being so busy w/school and all, he has not had much time either! But, summer is coming……Soon I Hope, and there is always the PC games; Fate is a good one too. So many choices!

Wii

Post by: Chris on March 6th, 2008 | File Under Gaming

We have a Wii. It is thee coolest game on the planet. My son also has every other Nintendo game out there; Game Boy Advance (2 of these), Game Cube, and DS Lite (2 of these). He likes the Wii the best and so do I. Mostly because it gets us off the couch when we play. I think my favorite game is Bowling and his is Golf. My parents were the one that got it for him, and they did the famous get up a 4am and wait in line for hours. We have the Best Family ! However, there is another option now in how you can get a Wii: Click Here for a Chance to Win a Nintendo® Wii™!. However, to get the best out of gaming, one needs internet. Wireless is best, of course. Plus, it has to be fast. Not only for gaming, but for homework for my son. I have no clue how I got through school with out the internet. Oh yeah, encyclopedias, yuck!
We got the Wii after we got internet. It took me a while to decide what kind of internet provider I wanted as there are quite a few options out there. I am happy, sorta, but I could be happier, so it never hurts to shop around. If I could win internet free for life now that would be great! I think I will go put my name in the hat now. Or, I could get back to work….hard choice. Not :)

balls

Post by: Chris on February 14th, 2008 | File Under Gaming

Since Spring is just around the corner I have decided we need to get out and get some exercise. A good way to have fun plus get lots of exercise is to play paintball. I would have as my weapon of choice, a tippmann a-5. These babies have adjustable stocks, flatline barrels and my gosh can you accessorize: padded gun case, stealth mask with visor and anti fog lenses, deluxe harness and an ammo hopper to top it off! I know, it sounds like a manly thing to do, but I have always liked shooting things. I used to carry a small 380 when I worked up at the ski resort. Plus I went shooting a lot with my old sheriff friend. Maybe I can get him to come play paintball with me. Such Fun !

Shop

Post by: Chris on December 8th, 2007 | File Under Gaming

We have to go shop today, eGads! I am so not looking forward to going out in that madhouse mess of traffic and people. I just don’t like shopping! My son really wants a iPod this year. I guess its the rave in Junior High. He comes back from school every day saying how this kid has that, this kid has something else. I mean, really, he won’t use one that much to justify the price. Well, at least I, the out of it Mom, thinks so. One is not cool unless One has something electronic like that! He also wants a Sidekick Cell phone, do you know how much they cost! a fortune. This way he can listen to Batman theme song mp3 and call people with the phone. We had none of that stuff when I was younger, and ya know, we did just fine! And he will do just fine too.

Just An Idea

Post by: Chris on December 3rd, 2007 | File Under Gaming

Last summer when my son turned 12, he wanted to have a Paint Ball B-Day party. Unfortunatly, we never did. So I have been thinking that for Christmas, it might be a good idea to get him some type of paintball gun package. His friend from Scouts has a gun and he really likes it. I, personally, would like to go out on a range and play as well. We have been to Laser Tag and I love zapping the people, including my son. ha ! It is way fun. I know there are paint ball ranges out around here; they have some both inside and outside. I looked into this last summer and when you go they let you rent the paint ball guns. My son wants me to purchase a gun for him tho. Then his friend and him can go whenever. I guess as kids get older, they like more physical and active games that give them a rush. I just hope I can keep up with them!

Roulette

Post by: Chris on November 21st, 2007 | File Under Gaming

I like to play Roulette. I was first intruduced to it at work this summer. Every year at work we have a Family Day celebration and this year Gambling was the Theme. It was So fun ! My son and I went together and he pretty much kicked my butt. We only played for Chips, but it was fun to see his pile getting bigger and mine getting smaller.

Anyways, I did not have a clue how to play, so I learned very quickly. And since then, I have been trying to find places to play. In Utah this is a hard thing! So I went on line. I did not know there were so many sites where you could play. Its scary in a way and I have heard about people loosing money like crazy on line. There is this site though, where you can go and read about online casino reviews. This place is so cool ! It will explain how the game is played, a little history behind the games, the rules for both the US and Overseas, it has player reviews, player ratings, editor ratings and links to just about every gaming site imaginable. Besides the basics like Poker, Blackjack, Craps and Slots, its also has Bingo and Backgammon. Its totally fun and informative, and will be great for these upcoming cold winter days or nights !
