moan

Post by: Chris on August 18th, 2008 | File Under Family

waaaaaah, I wanna go back to bed. Monday came way too quick and I am still exhausted from the weekend. We went to our local Amuzment Park, stayed till it closed, and I must be gettin’ old cuz my body still aches all over! Some of the rides really rattle the bones and its takes me longer each year to recoup. However, we are planning to go again soon, hehehe. They are open for whats called Fright Mare around Halloween. If I want to go during that month, I will have to get my Halloween invitations out soon, cuz it is a fact: my son hates scary rides, the dark, and he hates to be shocked by Halloween stuff. In fact we usually sluff school on Halloween each year and do lunch.
Anyways, I am getting off track here.
If I can last today and tomorrow, the rest of the week should be okay. *sigh*

Where’d he go . . ?

Post by: Chris on August 17th, 2008 | File Under Family

My son has been evading (see picture below) doing his chores now for the past couple weeks. I chalk it up to it being the end of summer, and it being less work for me just to do them for him, instead of us getting into an argument. However, I am going thru that phase again of being sick and tired of doing it all by myself!!! Our house is not one of those cheap hotels where the maid cleans up after him. So starting fresh tomorrow/Monday, he will get his butt off the couch and help me out!

(this is really not a pic of my son, but some days I DO feel like he is invisible!)

personalize it

Post by: Chris on August 15th, 2008 | File Under Family

Since my son is incapacitated due to the huge gash in his leg, it has got me thinkin’ about what we used to do when he was younger and unable to go out and play. We actually read a lot of books. He liked stories that had his name in them; like Little Mermaid, but I wont tell you which name was his, hehehe. personalized gifts was a big thing when he was younger too. Now-a-days they have story books where your kid is the main character, they have songs that feature your kid as the main theme, there are personalize plush toys, toy trucks and so much more. I wish I was a kid again; I’d have my room full of stuff w/my name on it so that it would be mine alone and I would not have to share, and I’d have my parents order it all on line, HA !

My son has this big and I mean big, gash on his leg. Its this gapping cut that somehow happened when he was mowing the Lawn Monday. He was not near the lawn mower or any ellipticals, so I know it was not a blade, or something like that. He said that he was twisting around, and the heal of his shoe sliced him mid calf. Blood was gushing everywhere. I wanted to take him the the Doc, cuz I thought he needed stitches, but he refused. It did stop bleeding and all seemed well.
Until today. We showed the gash to my Dad and he is concerned. Said we just might want to go in and have the Doc check it out. My prob is that I have really terrible insurance and if we go, I have to pay the Full Amount of the visit and all that goes w/it; my deductible is $3200. ugh.
*sigh* will have to think on this one . . .

Shots, Growls and Hissing

Post by: Chris on August 7th, 2008 | File Under Family, Pets

Well we took our Cat Rosey into the Vet yesterday last minute. She has been licking herself more than a Cat usually does, and she her aim is way off, and I mean Way Off, when it comes to the litter box! So I called the Vet and they took her right in. It took us a good while to get her into the cat tote tho, she was growling and hissing, and I thought I’d get my face scratched! But we got her in there and she howled all during the car ride.
We update her shots and they said she had some anal inflamation, so they took care of that too! They also said she was, hmm, a tad Fat! 16 pounds of fat to be exact! She could use a weight loss product, but we decided to just cut down her food. Now she can only eat 1/3 a cup of food twice a day and we can no longer just leave the bowl full and sitting out all day.
She has been rather grumpy today, but we are keeping an eye out. It always takes me a few days to get back to normal after a stressfull Doc’s appointment too. We love our kitty SO much !

Post by: Chris on August 6th, 2008 | File Under Family, Scouts

It just turned 8PM a few minutes ago and we just got home. What’s what that !? On most school nights we are in bed by now (we get up at 5am). However, it IS summer and we had a ton of running around to do after I got off work. I need a flash drive that I could plug in my Jeep (do they even make those?!); I could multi task even more that I do now, ha !
One of our errands included SportsMans Warehouse for fresh Worms and Salmon Eggs. We are going fishing this weekend and I need my Salmon Eggs to catch those Trout!
Actually we went to the Library foremost to get some Scout Books but they only had one. Now we have to go buy one tomorrow. suck. I hate spending money ! but we need this book for tomorrow night as son needs to pass of his Personal Management Merit Badge.
I am so tired this week and getting more worn out very quick. Camping this weekend better be fetchin’ relaxing!
yeah, right. sure. uh huh. *sigh*

Fun in the Sun

Post by: Chris on August 1st, 2008 | File Under Family

We went to a water park yesterday called Cherry Hill. It’s called that because it’s also a campground amongst Cherry Trees. The Cherry’s are very good and it brought back good childhood memories of camping there with my family when I was a kid. (thats a topic for another post).
Anyway, here are some pictures of my son and his friend. And . . . yes, the last pic is me. I will be brave and let you all know what I look like, however, you have to remember, it was 99 degrees yesterday so we all look a little hammered!

Life

Post by: Chris on July 29th, 2008 | File Under Family

I know there is a lot of controversy surrounding Umbilical Cord blood. However I am one of those few people that are in support of Umbilical Cord Stem Cell research and Cord Blood preservation.
If blood banking was widely available when my son was born over 13 years ago, I would have saved his Umbilical blood just in case it was needed for him in the future.
I would do and will do, anything possible to help my son if he became ill. Cryo-Cell is one of the world’s largest and most established family cord blood banks. Treating disease with Stem Cells is just one of the many new possible treatments out there and by the year 2015 there will be 10,000 Cord Blood transplants world-wide per year using publicly banked cord blood. The Value of Cord Blood is increasing every day and I truly believe that every Mom should bank their kids Cord Blood. If we can help save lives by something as simple as this, why not do it? I do understand some Moms’ opposition, but to save a life, is it not worth it? Life is so very precious; every day I am thankful for my son, my family, my health and my job. Thats all that matters anyway. Everything else is just fluff.
