New York is SO loud! I know it is the city that never sleeps, but really, there is no peace and quiet anywhere in that entire city! Plus it stinks and is oh so very dirty. Not for me, thankyouverymuch.
But all in all, the kiddo and I had a fun time. It rained on two of the days we were there; we were soaked to the skin! We did see everything we had planned except for Ground Zero. That was the day we got soaked, and we were not in the mood to go romping around lower Manhatten with wet shoes, not to mention, wet undies. yuck!

Today is our last day here in DC (for a few days). We are off to the Big Apple and I am not taking the laptop with us, so no posts for till the end of the week.
We are very excited to go. We are taking the Bus; $20 one person one way. I think that is a very good deal! In a way, I am a little leary of being in the big city. I will have to learn the subway, the streets, and just about everything else. We have never been there, so this will be an experience for me for sure.

I pretty much cannot go to the Zoo. It just breaks my heart to see those animals in cages, all confined and living life in a box. However, I braced myself and we hit the National Zoo here in DC. It is a very nice Zoo. Most all animals live in a very open, natural enviroment. There are so many big, shadey trees, lots of water and its very peacefull (execpt for the screaming kids, ugh). The place is so huge, they even have rv parks nearby for the people that take a driving vacation instead of a walking vacation (like us!).
The Zoo also has two Panda’s; I never seen a Panda before! They are very beautiful creatures and their enviroments is also very nice.

We are still having a wonderful time here in the DC area. Today we went to Mount Vernon and our gracious host gave us a full day of his time, just being our special tour guide.

However, I still tend to feel a tad guilty. I am always worried that we are taking up his time, waisting his time, or just plain being a big bother. I am trying very hard not to be all of the above, but I still wonder . . .
Anyways, I am very happy to be here. It is a wonderful place. I do forget from day to day tho, just how old this State is. I have been taking sooo many pictures I might need a ddr2 hard drive for my laptop to hold all the pics.
President Washingtons home is over 300 years old; of course it has been renovated, but it is still amazing to see! The view from the back porch of his house is still as beautiful as it was back then.

My feet hurt! My legs hurt, my butt hurts; everything hurts! This is our 3rd day walking around. Today tho, we only were out and about for 9 hours, walking all the time. We hit the Air and Space museum and the Smithsonian, the National Archives, a few statue gardens, the USDA where we met my friend and had a very nice lunch, and some other stuff I cant seem to remember right now. I have decided not to move anymore tonight other than to get off the couch and into bed. Tomorrow we have the Pentagon tour at 9am, eek !

Today was another walking walking walking day. Here is a pic of me in front of the Botanical Garden. If you look closely, you can see the Washington Monument in the background, right side.

We did it. We finally went on vacation! However, it is our 2nd day here and we are already dead tired. I think we overdid it yesterday. We walked for over 12 hours. Saw the Washington Monument, Lincoln, Jefferson, Korean, WWII, Vietnam, and so many others I cannot list.

We are also pretty much only eating at fast food and cheap restaurants! Which is not a good deal. I hope not to need any diet pills when we get back home. But with all this walking, so far, so good.

Well time for more walkin’, today is a tour of the Capital.

Dear Diary,

Not much is up these days. Just the regular boring day to day stuff; cleaning, pets, work and the kiddo. I am still trying to reach my weight goal before we go to DC/NYC. I have two pounds to go in 3 days. uh, dont think I am going to make it. I might if I take some atro-phex diet pills, but I am hoping to at least loose one pound. ugh. It is SO hard to get old!

Oh, we did see Harry Potter today. It was pretty good! They left out a lot of stuff, so I would recommend reading the book before seeing the Movie. I am looking forward to the last movie-it will be in two parts, one in 2010 and the last of them all in 2011. I love movies! They get my mind off life for a little while.
