Be Safe

Post by: Chris on November 30th, 2008 | File Under Family

001Before we even moved into our house, I had a Security System installed. It was the best thing I have ever done. We have sensors on all our doors and window, plus, some windows have what is called shatter, or shock, sensors. Normally if the window opens, the sensor will detect that, but what if the glass is broken and the window technically never opens . . .? This way if the window is broken, we are still safe. As you can tell by the picture, my Living Room door is open. Always nice to know what windows and doors are open! Plus, every time the door opens (like if the kiddo is trying to sneak outside) there is a lovely chime that rings to let me know. I totally love my emergency response system. It also has a carbon dioxide sensor and smoke alarm. They are all hooked up to the Company that monitors me and if there is a problem, they send the police or fire department, depending on the situation of course. Sorry to say, the Fire Department did, well almost, come to our house. The first time I lit a fire in our fireplace I did not do a very good job and smoked up the house . . . . just a little! But it was enough to send the Fire Department. However, I did receive a phone call from the Company that monitors me in the nick of time, and I explained it all to them and they called off the Firemen. It was a tad embarrassing because I could hear the fire engines coming down the street, but also very nice to know that I am being watched over, and would always be safe.

A nice long weekend

Post by: Chris on November 29th, 2008 | File Under Family

007I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving, we sure did; check out the Turkey! YUM!

Plus, we had so much fun shopping on Black Friday yesterday! To be truthful, I have never ever ever shopped on the Friday after Thanksgiving before. kinda strange, but I really hate crowds. Yesterday was nice tho; not too many people! We only went to a few stores and did have to wait in long lines, but nothing like I expected. It was a good day. My kiddo and I went together and got most all of our Christmas Shopping done. The hard part is the parents. I mean really, what the heck do we get our parents . . . ? the people that have everything! It is very hard. We are going out again today, so hope to find some small knick-knack so they at least have some presents to open.

Taking it off together Tuesday #24

Post by: Chris on November 25th, 2008 | File Under Weight Watching, meme

eGads, what a week ! I usually do very good during the holidays, but I have been sick and stuffing my face w/all kinds of foods just to keep my energy level up. This week will be better even tho it is Thanksgiving week, I feel pretty good.
Here’s the report from Ciara this week:

Unfortunately this week we do not have a prize. Hopefully we can get something in the works for next time. This week’s Biggest Loser is Tammy with a loss of 1.0 pounds. Please stop by and congratulate her.
Here are the results for this week:

Chris - .4LOSS
Tammy - 1 loss
Grace - 4.6 Gain
Leigh No Change
Clara .6 Gain
Julie - 0.2 LOSS
Cheryl - no report
Audrey 1 Gain
Christy - 2.6 Gain
Tina - no report
Danielle - no report
Jessie - no report
Steph - no report
CYN 1 Gain

This week’s total: 8.2 GAIN Yikes! I think that’s the highest we’ve had since we started. I do believe that a lot has to do with holiday time. This is the time that the average weight a person gains is SEVEN pounds.

Need. Energy.

Post by: Chris on November 25th, 2008 | File Under Health

I hate being sick! I finally gave in and went down to the Nurse that we have here at work. She said I have a sinus infection. At least I know why I cant seem to get better and why I cant stop eating everything in site just to feel like I have some resemblance of Energy. ugh. So she gave me some drugs, which cost me $43.25 ! ! and thats for a ten day supply only. I guess I should have searched on a Sony Vaio laptop for a better deal! Drugs are so fetchin’ expensive. Totaly depressing. Anyways, she also gave me some type of orange OTC pills that seem to work wonders! They really made my head clear up. I have to find out what there are. I left the samples at home today, but will need to snarf some more from her. I love free samples, heeeheehee.

Marzipan, our family tradition

Post by: Chris on November 23rd, 2008 | File Under Family

We have a tradition in our family; every Holiday season we come together as as family and make Marzipan. We really have a great time. It is hand made of Almond paste and Powder suger and a few other secret ingredients. Here is a picture of me and my sis forming a lot of small balls. We are not quite a retail franchises, but we do have good workers on our family assembly line, heeheehee.
The balls then get covered with Chocolate, some get turned in to red-topped Mushrooms, some green Limes and even nice red Strawberries.
We really have a great time and its a tradition that our family really really loves! I hope your family has some really neat traditions as well. XO

Today I am thankful that it is Friday. It has been a gosh-awful week and I am glad it is just about over. Now that I am feeling better (but still want to sleep more), I have decided to pretty much start my diet over. again. I know. I keep saying this! This time tho, I really have too. They have this really cool thing here at work; Project “0″. It is too maintain, or loose, weight during the Holidays. In about an hour, I will go weigh in, and then the first week of January, weigh in again. Last year my sis and I won blankets cuz we (okay mostly her) did good.
And . . . to start it off, when I get home I am going to make fresh Tomato soup. These are the last of my summer tomatoes and they are just about all ripe. It will be a good start to a good weekend.

Madness

Post by: Chris on November 20th, 2008 | File Under Every Day Things

Well I guess somethin’ is going around here at work, cuz yesterday everyone - including me - called in sick except for 3 people ! Now we are working madly to catch up. Its pretty hectic, no time for nuttin. ugh. On the good side, I did loose 2 pounds in the past 3 days! I guess I didnt eat much, which means I might need some Lipovox supplements to get me going again. I just hope I dont totally eat everything in site when I get home. I have been rather hungry today too. Oh, and I just remembered! I totally missed Taking it Together Tuesday. sheesh. My brain is on overload I swear.
Time to work, gotta run. ugh.
