growing

Post by: Chris on April 24th, 2008 | File Under Every Day Things

My boss just came in to work this morning as told me that his son is now 6 feet tall. Wow. He is barely 15! Amazing just how fast they grow. My son is pretty close behind, at 13 he is about 5’5”. Every other year we have a check up for him and I always wonder how they store their records. Since my hard drive died here at work last week, I lost all my personal info, but the main stuff is stored on a separate drive. I wonder if many Doctors and what-not still have papers files, or if they use companies like VirMedice, which is a paper-less records management system and ePrescribing. So just in case the Doctors office looses its hard drive and all our record disappears, they will have a back up source. Very smart if you ask me! I would have been lost here at work if we did not have a back up source.

gotta go green

Post by: Chris on April 23rd, 2008 | File Under Every Day Things

Since Earth Day was just the other day, and it was all over the TV, which is a GOOD thing, we have been doing our part here in my little world as well. A couple weeks ago we changed all our light bulbs to those new energy efficient ones. And ya know what…? My electric bill went down $3.00 already and it has not even been one month! There are many other environmental products that we want to switch too as well. Our solar lights outside turn on only at dark, we also got a new Water Heater this past winter, and there is also eco-furniture that is good for the enviroment.

Since I do tend to order everything on line (saves paper of course!) I was introducted to a new site that is very, well, Green ! GreenAndMore.Com has just about everything you could want to make your home more Green. What I like is the natural and organic beddings, the vacuum cleaners and the steam cleaners. I really hate those harsh chemical products to mop the floors and clean the windows with so I am in the market for a small steam cleaner.

Whats neat is they also have a Learning Center where I can get more Green Info; this is good cuz they have a good Gardening section and I need to learn more about eco-friendly gardening. So, Lets Go Green People !

I love Chocolate and eat it every day!
I was married 9 years, and divorced almost 11 years now.
There is me, my son, our cat and our turtle in our small family house.
I am currently not in a relationship and cant decide if I even want to date right now.
90 % of my friends are males.
Every boyfriend I ever had could not deal w/all my many male friends and thereof, we broke up.
I love my family, respect and cherish each and every one of them.

what I believe

Post by: Chris on April 23rd, 2008 | File Under Family, Health

I truely believe that what you put in your body has everything to do with your health.

For Example: My son was once again, sick and throwing up this morning.

This has been an issue for about 3-4 weeks now. Just about the time I gave up cooking dinners. If you remember my Chicken Tender post, you will understand. I am SO tired of throwing away healthy food that I cook for him because he does not like it. I remember having to eat what my Mom cooked for dinner No Matter What ! ! In fact, my sister and I were just talking about this while we were camping. We are able to tolerate and eat just about everything. Okay, not the gross stuff like Snails and Lima Beans, but most all good home-cooked foods are fine for us to eat and enjoy the variety.

My Son is different. He only likes certain things. He was great when he was a small child, but now that he is 13 ! Yikes ! I cannot cook ONE dinner that he likes. So I pretty much gave up. He had Hot Dogs, Laffy Taffey and Apple Juice for dinner last night. We have this issue every fetchin’ night. Since I gave up cooking, I ask him “What do you want to eat?” He knows whats in the house, cuz we shop together. So he tells me what he wants, I every day, suggest Veggies and Fruits, but noooo, he just wants meat. So thats what he gets. It saves on the yelling in our house, the depression and the grumpy moods.

Now he is suffering. We had once again, another long talk and he has agreed to try some of my Weight Watcher recipes. There is this Linguini one that is very good, with Asperagus mixed in. He saw the picture and now maybe, after throwing up again this morning, he will eat some veggies ! ! ! !

errrrrr

what ta do

Post by: Chris on April 22nd, 2008 | File Under Every Day Things

I love doing Wordless Wednesday (on Tuesdays - scroll down to see my pic for today), however, one itty bitty thing that really bothers me is not being able to comment on some of their blogs. I dont have a goggle id, or wordpress or live journal or typepad or aol. The bloggers that restrict their readers to those people that only have accounts w/those companies are really loosing out on comments like me; who is simply a dot com site. I have not quite figured out if it is mostly the free blogs, but I do pay for my blog and welcome All and Every body to comment; heck, you can even comment on my blog if you dont have a blog !
Sure…it could be that I just need to toughen up, get some muscle growth, and get accounts with all those different blog companies, heeheehee, but really - it would be much easier for me if they just opened their comments to any and every body.

So, I am sorry if I offend anyone, but dont be so selective ! Open your comments to everyone, diversity is a good thing ya know ! ha !

we have returned

Post by: Chris on April 22nd, 2008 | File Under Family

Wow. What a weekend ! We did camp the entire 3 days, and let me tell you, I am very glad to be home. My thoughtful sisters has a outdoor thermometer and she just HAD to inform us that it was a whompin’ 20 dgrees when we woke up Monday morning. Since it was the desert, it really did not feel that cold. However, when I went to brush my teeth, I did notice my toothbrush was frozen, the water in our jug outside was frozen and if you can believe this - my contacts were frozen in thier solution ! I had to slowly unthaw them whilst sitting in the car with the heater on.

Now that I look back, it was rather funny, but at the time it would have been nice to have running water and some bathroom faucets.

All in All we had a great time (if you take away the frozen temperatures, the heavy winds and the me being sick most all saturday). sheesh. I am really glad to be back home !
