Health Kick
Tuesday 30th of October 2007 12:26:10 PMIn my entire life, I have never had my Cholesterol, Thyroid, and my Red/White Blood Cell count checked. So I did and I now know that I am normal. Normal is good! Even tho I really think my Cholesterol could have been better; I mean I think its rather high - 195 -. Considering I never eat much meat, never eat pasta and only eat maybe one slice a bread a week. My HDL (the good Cholesterol) was 57. And they say that is very good. The higher the better on this one. My LDL (the bad Cholesterol) was 132. Which is high; the lower the better on this one. I try to figure out what I am eating wrong and my fitness lady says that I am eating good, but not enough of certain things. Mostly Oils. I never ever eat Oil, never cook w/it, never do anything with it. She said I need more of the Good Oils. Like Olive Oil, Flax seeds, Fish and nuts. Well I never eat any of those things either! So I looked up Flax seeds, and there is 250 calories in a 1/4 cup! Uh, I dont think so. Will have to pass on that one.
We have decided to eat Fish one day a week now. I do like fish. And Peanut Butter is good too. But in moderation. I could eat the whole jar of that stuff!
And I learned to, that even tho I am cold all the fetchin’ time (anytime is below 85 degrees) I am not enemic. My Red Blood Cell count is 4.21 and my White Blood Cell is 5.4. Both right in the middle of the charts. So I still have to figure out why I am cold all the time.
So. I have been trying to get better w/my diet. So much I gained 3 lbs from last week
What ta do, What ta do. I really have to get a balance in my life. This is SO hard ! !

It is hard to find a balance isn’t it! I hope you continue to stay healthy. Medication is so expensive. My husband just tried a new medicine to keep his sugar regulated. The doctor is trying to keep hubby from getting diabetes. The medicine made him sick. Back to the drawing board.

Yeah balance is very hard. Glad your numbers are good, though. I haven’t had mine checked in a while. I have ground flax seed in my smoothies, only 1 TBSP a day though. And sometimes not that much.

Good luck to you as well, and your husband! Diabetes is so common these days, it is totally scary. There is so much junk in our processed foods too, if I think much on it I get afraid to eat
Take care and have a Great Halloween !
