To Buy or Not To Buy
Monday 22nd of October 2007 11:43:51 AMWell, here it is, Monday. So I better get my head in gear and get my life going again since I had such a good weekend. heeheehee
I have been recently pondering getting myself another house. Well, a house or a rental property. Right now we live in a Condo and I would really like to get a free standing house of our own. So, I have been checking into a few things and have learned that there are direct marketing mailing list out there. I always wondered how those catalogs from different stores found me after I moved! Its kind of cool tho, cuz I did order new stuff thru catalogs when I first bought my condo. And even now, I still occasionally get mortgage leads from my relater about refinancing and what-not. I did refinance about 5 years ago too. Got a great rate compared to today’s’ rates.
But that’s what I am worried about. Getting another mortgage on top of the one I already have. So that’s why I have been thinking about a rental property. We had a four-plex in the past and it worked our great. I did all the financial stuff and the X did the fixing up stuff. Now, I would have to do it all. I must admit, that is a tad intimidating. But I do have some connections, like a Sprinkler guy, a Plumber guy and a few others. Sure, they are paid contractors, but at least I have them when I need them. Now, if anyone can tell me how to drain a Swamp Cooler, I’ll be fine ![]()

LOL my husband knows how to drain a swamp cooler!
I probably do, too, except that I hate going up on our roof. It’s so pitched it is just scary. If it was flat… okay, I don’t like going up the darn ladder no matter what.
Good luck on finding a house. Would be so cool! I saw one for rent on 900 E the other day, but now I don’t remember where. Was close to our house tho.

Want to buy my house? I am tired of owning and taking care of a home. Nice house just minutes from Mt Vernon. Wouldn’t cost much over half a million.
Have you considered an REIT? Or renting your current house and buying a SFH. That might work out better from a financing standpoint.
